2023 Josef Chromy Pinot Gris

Colour: Pale rose gold

Aroma: The nose is highly aromatic and complex, delivering notes of honeydew melon, blushed peach skin, lychee fruit and warming ginger spice.

Palate: Rich with an oily texture, balanced by refreshing acidity. Flavours of red apple, honeydew melon, lychee and juicy persimmon.

Grapes:100% Pinot Gris from Northern Tasmania

Winemaking: Pinot Gris grapes from blocks 6,8 and 10 of our Relbia vineyard were picked at optimal ripeness in late March 2023. Gentle whole bunch pressing was carried out at the winery, with the free run portion fermenting at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to retain a delicate aromatic profile, whereas the pressings were placed in older oak barrels for fermentation and maturation on lees to build texture and body. In early June 2023 the two components were combined to create the final blend. Gentle fining, stabilisation and clarification processes followed, and the wine was bottled in late August 2023.

Cellaring: Best consumed now to 2027

Serving: This Pinot Gris will be the perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes. Think spice with spice and try it alongside spicy noodle dishes or dim sum. Its body and oily texture might even handle richer dishes like roast chicken, pork and quail. Finally, it will be sure to please alongside charcuterie, smoked ham and washed rind cheeses on your platter while entertaining friends and family.
